• Create the following temporary directory:
  • TempDir : C:\TEMP\EXE
• Install the game - Full Installation.
• Install the Livin' Large Expansion Kit.
• Copy the following files to TempDir:
  • SIMS.EXE [360,521 bytes - 25/07/00]
  • SIMS.ICD [2,326,573 bytes - 25/07/00]
  • DPLAYERX.DLL [138,752 bytes - 26/07/00]
• Use unSafeDisc v1.5.5 to unwrap the SafeDisc protected SIMS.EXE executable.
• Rename the created TESTME.EXE executable to SIMS.ICD and copy it to the game directory, overwriting the original SIMS.ICD file.
• Replace the original SIMS.EXE executable with the one from Patch Archive (only 12 KB in size!).
• Play the Game!

The Sims v1.1/EURO [878 KB] Fixed Executable

The Sims v1.0 [951 KB] Backup CD / Fixed Execxutable

• Create the following temporary directories:
  • TempDir : C:\TEMP\CD
• Copy the full contents of the original CD to TempDir.
• Extract the PATCH.ACE archive to to TempDir.
• Execute PATCH.BAT from within TempDir to patch the game.
• Burn the contents of TempDir (DATA - Mode-1) to a CD-R with this CD-Label: The_sims
• Play the game!

If you are experiencing problems unpacking the .ACE files make sure to use the latest WinACE 2.xx as previous versions, WinRAR & WinZIP fail to work!!!

If you have problems downloading files then use a download manager
like Go!Zilla! (Free!), Download Accelerator or GetRight to avoid download problems and to resume failed downloads!

It can happen that some of the downloads have a .TGZ extension instead of the usual .ACE  -  Just rename the file back to .ACE and it works fine again!
